In this picture we see a dental crown tooth #6, a dental implant custom abutment and the model made from an impression. The dental implant follows the angle of the upper jaw (maxilla). A standard straight abutment caused the temporay crown to stick out or protrude. Tremendous advances in dental implant prostheics have taken place since I placed my first dental implant in 1989. Other areas of incredible foward strides include diagnosis and treatment planning (in office cone bean CT scanning), types of bone grafting materials, etc.
