Seen in this picture are the provisional (temporary) crowns hand made by Marti, one of my very experienced dental assistants. The definitive fix here will be porcelain crowns. These will be made at a local dental lab in Palm Harbor FL. It is a small lab with very tight quality control very close to my previous Palm Harbor dental office. This type of dental lab will dissapear as we move forth with technological advances. Impressioning is quickly moving from the technique I was taught at Columbia Dental School in New York City to digital scanning and fabrication of definitive crowns from the many steps all done by human hands to complete CAD/CAM robotic milling. All this was just visionary thinking in the 1980’s and soon this will be the standard of care rather than state of the art.
