Loss of gum tissue tooth # 24:
There are many types of gum tissue grafts ranging from subepithelial connective tissue grafts to attached gingival grafts and even sliding peduncular tissue grafts. The goal is always to get more of the type of gum tissue where a dentist wants it to be. In my Palm Harbor, Tampa Bay Florida area dental office I have been a dentist since April 23, 1988, more than 24 years. Gum tissue grafting is part of a true Comprehensive Dental Office.
The arrow in this picture is pointing to the buccal gum line area of tooth #24. It is clearly visible that this tooth is more exposed than the other lower incisors. My goal here is not root coverage but to get more attached gum tissue in this area to protect against further recession.
Many patients want to be sedated for surgical procedures such as this. Other procedures commonly performed under conscious sedation are: tooth extractions, dental implants, root canals and periodontal procedures.
