Dental Implants are a highly successful way to either: replace missing teeth in a non-removable fashion or to secure removable teeth. Dental implants can have crowns placed on them, this is the most easily understood use of dental implants. Dental implants are also routinely used to anchor or stabilize full dentures, but dental implants are also, though less frequently utilized with removable partial dentures.
Here in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, we place and restore many dental implants. The average cost of dental implants in Florida is reasonable compared with other highly populated areas of the United States of America, and we dentists in Florida do have quite a bit of experience with dental implants.
I moved to the Tampa area, specifically, Palm Harbor in 1988 to start my dentist office. After graduation from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1985, I was very intrigued by dental implants. Although some pioneers in dental implants had been placing and restoring dental implants in the USA for decades, it was not until the scientific research on dental implants by Per-Ingvar Branemark of Sweden was published in 1985 that dental implants began to enter maintstream dentistry. My parents had moved to the Tarpon Springs, also in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, in 1985. After several visits to my parents, I took the Florida Dental Boards and became a licensed in Florida in 1987. I opened my first dentist office in Palm Harbor, 34683, in 1988.
Opening my new dentist office from scratch in Tampa on April 23, 1988 was the beginning of my own dental practice and dental implants were always in my thoughts. I attended the Alabama Dental Implant Congress in early 1989 where I met the world renowned oral implantologist, O’Hilt Tatum Jr, who also practiced dentistry in the Tampa area, Saint Petersberg, Florida. He invited me to his dentist office, where he became my mentor in dental implants. I received dental implant training from Dr. Tatum until 1995, coincidentally, the year my son, Mathew Paul Caputo was born.
Whether dental implants are placed and restored in Tampa Florida, Europe or South America, they are a very effective part of routine dentistry in the 21st Century.
