Dry socket refers to a complication after tooth extraction. To the best of my knowledge there is NO way to absolutely prevent the dry socket complication. Simply put:
Take a long time to heal
Dry sockets tend to occur more frequently in smokers, in the lower jaw and in cases of teeth that break and the tooth extraction is more traumatic. Dry sockets will heal on their own, but the dry socket can be packed by the dentist’s office to help with the pain.
