Dental Implant and Bone Graft
This type of dental bone graft is called a “site preservation” graft. The site being preserved is the post extraction socket of a tooth that was just removed, the ultimate goal is to place a dental implant in this position. This picture shows bone graft material covering the hole (socket) where tooth #28 was extracted as well as the healing cap of a dental implant that was also just placed in the #29 region.
Site preservation bone grafting in preparation for dental implant placement has become a very predictable, routine treatment modality in my Palm Harbor dentist office. This morning, September 17, 2012, I will be extracting a lower right cuspid, tooth #27 with internal resorption, and grafting that site for future dental implant placement.
