When someone has made up their mind that they are ready for Dentures, it is not the end of the world, as a matter of fact, it can be a decision they are very happy with.
Lets follow at this woman’s tooth saga.
This woman who we will call “Mary” presented to my office on January 29, 2013, she chose my dental office because she wanted one stop (comprehensive) dentistry and I am one of few dentists that post fees for my services on my website. Mary had made up her mind that she wanted to buy full dentures with her 2012 tax refund, she had a $3000 budget in mind. She had worn braces from the 5th grade until her parents “forced” the dentist to take them off in 10th grade.
A subsequent dentist mentioned that her tooth enamel had been damaged by the braces being on so long. Mary’s teeth “got real bad 10 – 15 years later.” She reported that she had recently invested 3 years and wasted $5000. in constant dental work, which all failed, at which time she was referred to another dentist to have the teeth extracted.
Mary then stated “now I have 13 rotting teeth remaining and I have made up my mind to have them all removed and get immediate dentures.” She had done very extensive research about immediate dentures, even watching YouTube videos made by others chronicling and describing their own experiences. She wanted her teeth removed under sedation and wanted to wake up with all her teeth gone and a pretty smile.
