The human lifespan is short, all things considered. I was born in 1960, below find a TV commercial from 1961 for Colgate dental paste.
Few of my readers have seen this commercial, I am sure. Now a brief overview of my perspective on dentistry’s changes over the years.
In the 1960’s, most dentists were using belt driven low speed hand pieces to “drill” on their patients teeth. There was “novacaine”, but many dentists did not use it for many procedures. It was thought that “baby” teeth did not have nerves, therefore the use of local anesthetic was unnecessary. It is no wonder so many adults are fearful of dentistry and the potential for pain. This is one reason why sedation dentistry is so popular now a days.
Recent developments in digital dental technology are rapidly changing the way we practice dentistry, both routine and implant dentistry. Predictable outcomes are routinely obtained using the latest digital developments. I am incorporating digitally guided treatment plans using the latest software into my everyday practice in Palm Harbor, FL.
