We all need our 15 seconds of fame. At my Palm Harbor Dentist office we look into mouths all day long, much of it is the same stuff, cavities, gum disease, missing teeth, even dental implants become routine. But this is something special, a bifurcated uvula! Some might ask, “What does that mean?”
The uvula is that thing at the end of the soft palate that hangs down the middle. Uvulas come in many shapes and sizes. They contribute to snoring, mine was surgically removed. Every now and then (2-3 times in 25+ years of looking into mouths) I get to see something like this. Bifurcated means divided in two. There are two distinct lobes seen here.
I do not know if the uvula has any purpose.
